2003 Wish List received from Mexico
The recipients of past International Projects in Mexico have sent us a Wish List for the coming year. If any club in District 5300 is interested in providing the funding of any of these projects, the Rotary Club of Levelland, Texas will be making a trip to Choquita this spring and would be more than happy to assist us in purchasing any of the supplies in Mexico to save us transportation costs.

“WISH LIST” for Tarahumara Boarding School in Choquita and Rejogochi. This list includes “traditional” school supplies as well as many items related to boarding the children.
Paper: lined paper, construction paper, notebooks, every kind is needed
Standard School Supplies (tape, scissors, pencils, pens, thumbtacks, stapler and staples, rulers, crayons, magic markers, etc)
Blackboard(s)
Encyclopedia Set – Elementary School level (in Spanish)
Typewriter
Videocamera (for recording dances, shamans, etc)
Tape recorder (not a music cassette player, but a good quality recorder which can be used to tape speakers and then played back for classes, to be used for recording both Raramuri and Spanish speakers)
Cassettes for tape recorder (if recorder is donated)
Printer compatible with Hewlett-Packard Pavilion Laptop
Cassettes for VCR
Cloth cutting scissors (for the craftsmaking, which is taught in the school, and serves as the income for families to purchase food during the droughts)
Sewing machine – pedal type! (for making the clothes as well as the craftsmaking)
Material and thread for making handicrafts
Woodworking knives (for making handicrafts – carving)
Greenhouse Tools
Greenhouse building supplies (durable plastic, planting trays, etc)
Hoses
Kitchen cooking utensils
Eating utensils (spoons especially!)
Drinking glasses (plastic cups)
Eating plates and bowls
Clothes – boys pants & shirts - jackets and shoes and warm clothes for both girls and boys. The Raramuri children are smaller, so clothes should be for children 3-10 years in age. The girls wear only traditional clothes – two dresses are made for them every year.
