PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT For Immediate Release, July 13, 2001 For additional information contact NORTH LAS VEGAS WOMEN TO MEXICO AGAIN Two North Las Vegas women are off to Mexico again to represent Rotary District 5300 and the North Las Vegas Rotary club on a fact-finding trip to Choquita, Mexico. Charlotte Leas and Annette Hardy will leave on July 15th and meet with other Rotarians from District 5730 (Texas) and District 1440 (Chihuahua, Mexico). The group plans to investigate the feasibility of a water project to the village, which is in the Sierra Madre Mountains near Creel in the Copper Canyon area. Charlotte has been an active member of the North Las Vegas Rotary Club since 1995. Charlotte was recently named ROTARIAN OF THE YEAR from her club and was honored at the District 5300 Conference in Palm Desert, California. Annette is the wife of Eldon Hardy, long time member and two times President of the North Las Vegas Rotary Club. The two will return to Las Vegas on July 20th Rotary District 5300 has sponsored a number of benefits to raise money to provide dehydrated food to supplement the diet of the school children in the Taharamara Indian Village of Choquita. The North Las Vegas Rotary Club sponsored a Souper Supper in September of 2000 at, which time the Rotary clubs of Southern Nevada raised over $8,000.00. The North Las Vegas Rotary Club also received a New Opportunity Grant from Rotary International in the amount of $7,000 to purchase dehydrated food from Breedlove Food Processing Center in Lubbock, Texas. This project is also part of the Feed the World Project sponsored by Rotary International. |
